A Bit About Us

Marmalade is the passion project of designer and maker Kate Singer. Kate resides in Toronto, Canada, where she has steadily been developing her jewellery line since 2003. Her backyard studio is her 10’ by 10’ craft haven, brimming with fabric, and all kinds of nifty tools and machinery. When she is not making jewellery, she can most likely be found a stones throw away at the park with her bouncy, bubbly, 2 year old daughter Amelia. Her husband Dave definitely deserves a shout out here too. Booth builder, heavy lifter, photographer, second set of eyes, second set of ears, moral booster, cheer leader and, most importantly, creator of laughter in our home (he’s a comedian). Kate is finally getting the hang of social media, so please come by and say hi on facebook or visit her blog to learn more about the ins and outs of Marmalade!

A Bit About Marmalade

Marmalade is a jewellery company that seeks to spread happiness in all that we do. Our joyful illustrations are the manifestation of a deep desire to spread posivity. With this as our mantra, we take care in all aspects of our business to be mindful of our community, and the earth. Marmalade is a hand made, locally made product. For our casting needs we employ a local Toronto company. Our silversmithing is done in-house, as is the fabric inlaying, and resin coating. We use only a one-part acrylic resin, free of solvents, and free of BPA. Our fabric letters are silkscreened by a local Toronto artist named Yasmine Louis (look her up, she makes awesome stuff!), and our digital printing is done by a independent company in the U.S.A. They print on natural linen using eco-friendly water-based inks. Knowing we’re not harming the earth in the production of our craft, and that we’re helping keep jobs in our community, certainly makes us smile, and we hope that the jewellery will make you smile.
